Cripple Threshold is the amount of damage a section of your characters body can take before it becomes crippled. These values will always use your base MAX HP.
- Head: 20% of MAX HP
- Torso: 60% of MAX HP
- Left Arm: 30% of MAX HP
- Right Arm: 30% of MAX HP
- Left Leg: 30% of MAX HP
- Right Leg: 30% of MAX HP
Restoring Cripple Threshold
There are two ways Cripple Threshold comes back, and they behave differently.
Passive healing โ spread across the whole body
Passive healing is any HP restored without a targeted Test:
- Eating food and drinking drink
- ๐ Recovery at the end of a ๐ Long Rest
- The Sleep activityโs upgraded Recovery roll
Divide the HP healed evenly among all 6 limbs, rounded down, and apply that amount to each limbโs Cripple Threshold.
Crippled limbs are ignored โ they receive nothing. Their share is simply lost, and the divisor stays 6 regardless of how many limbs are crippled.
No limb can exceed its maximum Cripple Threshold.
A crippled limb does not heal on its own. It must be mended โ by the Sleep activityโs injury mending, or by a ๐ Medical Treatment.
Example: A character with no crippled limbs eats a ๐ฅฉ Ribeye Steak (+12 HP) and rolls 9 on Recovery. That is 21 HP total, so each of their 6 limbs recovers 3 Cripple Threshold (21 รท 6 = 3.5, rounded down).
Example: The same character with a Crippled left arm heals the same 21 HP. Five limbs recover 3 CT each; the crippled left arm recovers nothing and stays crippled until mended.
Targeted healing โ one limb at a time
๐ Medical Treatments, ๐ Stimpaks, and the Fix / ๐ฉ Fix Malfunction actions restore Cripple Threshold to one chosen limb at full value rather than spreading it. These are also the only things that mend a Crippled limb.
For robotic creatures, all Cripple Threshold restoration is targeted โ Robots have no passive healing at all. See ๐ Robot Rest Rules.
