You have been hit by a force that may push you backwards.

Knockback is a tagged effect. Sources apply it as Knockback X, where X is the potency — the number of tiles of forced movement on a failed resist. For example, Knockback 2 has potency 2.

You are immune to this effect if you are Prone.

Attempt to resist this effect.

On SUCCESS:

You brace against the force and stay in place. No forced movement.

On FAIL:

You are forced to move backwards from the source of this effect by X tiles.

Guaranteed Minimum

By default, a successful resist completely negates Knockback. Some weapons or abilities may specify a guaranteed minimum in their description (e.g. “Knockback 3 — minimum 1 tile even on success”). When present, that minimum overrides the standard “no movement on success” outcome. The Knockback effect itself does not impose a minimum.
