A pair of stamped alloy tags on a chain, carrying a name, a rank, and a serial number in machine-readable pits. Every soldier who ever wore a uniform wore these under it.
Use
- Identifies the fallen. Read from a body, a holotag gives the wearer’s name, rank, and unit — for the Brotherhood, also their chapter and last posting.
- Requires a reader: a terminal, a 📱 Pip-Boy, or anyone who can read the stamped face.
- Brotherhood dead are recovered by their tags. Returning a Knight’s or Paladin’s holotags to a chapter is a service the Brotherhood recognises — see Reputation.
