Addictions are chemical dependencies acquired from repeated use of chems and alcohol. Each addiction imposes persistent penalties when the character is not currently under the effects of the associated chem — the body has come to expect the substance, and its absence hampers normal function.
How Addictions Are Acquired
Each chem (and alcohol) has an Addiction Risk that is checked when consumed. The exact risk values are listed on the individual chem and consumable pages. Repeated use — especially without recovery time between doses — increases the chance of becoming addicted.
Cures
Addictions can be removed by:
- Visiting a doctor at a settlement
- Using 💊 Addictol
- Other context-dependent options at GM discretion
