A Called Shot is a deliberate attack targeting a specific limb. By choosing to aim at a particular body part, you accept a penalty to 🎯 Accuracy in exchange for control over where your damage lands. Called Shots also reduce the Glancing Threshold for that limb, making it easier to land Solid hits that deal full 💔 Cripple Threshold damage. See the Glancing Rule for details on how Solid and Glancing hits work.
Quick Reference
To perform a Called Shot:
- Declare the target limb
- Pay base attack ⚡ AP + 1 ⚡ AP
- Apply the limb’s 🎯 Accuracy Penalty (-3 torso, -6 arms/legs, -9 head)
- Roll to hit (must exceed target’s Evasion)
- If hit, check Glancing Rule: is attack roll total ≤ Evasion + 🎯 Accuracy Penalty?
- If yes → Glancing: half damage to 💔 Cripple Threshold, full damage to HP
- If no → Solid: full damage to both 💔 Cripple Threshold and HP
- Resolve damage normally (DT, DR, effects)
Making a Called Shot
When you declare an attack, you may declare it as a Called Shot and specify which limb you are targeting: Head, Torso, Left Arm, Right Arm, Left Leg, or Right Leg.
AP Cost
Called Shots cost +1 ⚡ AP over the normal attack cost.
Accuracy Penalty
Called Shots suffer an 🎯 Accuracy penalty based on the targeted limb. Smaller and harder-to-reach limbs have higher penalties.
| Target Limb | Accuracy Penalty |
|---|---|
| Torso | -3 |
| Left Arm | -6 |
| Right Arm | -6 |
| Left Leg | -6 |
| Right Leg | -6 |
| Head | -9 |
Default Hit Location (Non-Called Shots)
When an attack hits and is not a Called Shot, the hit location is determined randomly by rolling a d20 on the Hit Location Table:
| d20 Roll | Limb Hit | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| 1-3 | Right Leg | 15% |
| 4-6 | Left Leg | 15% |
| 7-9 | Right Arm | 15% |
| 10-12 | Left Arm | 15% |
| 13-18 | Torso | 30% |
| 19-20 | Head | 10% |
Standard attacks use the default Glancing Rule threshold of Evasion + 10.
Called Shots and Cover
Called Shots interact with the Cover system:
- A Called Shot against a Covered Limb receives the full Cover Concealment Bonus to Evasion (+2 for Half Cover, +4 for Full Cover). The limb is physically protected by the Cover.
- A Called Shot against an Uncovered Limb bypasses the Cover Concealment Bonus entirely. The attacker is aiming around the Cover to hit an exposed body part.
This makes Called Shots a key tool for dealing with enemies in Cover.
Called Shots and Burst Fire
You may perform a Called Shot with Burst Fire. When you do:
- The Called Shot Accuracy Penalty applies to the first shot and all subsequent shots in the burst.
- The +1 AP Called Shot surcharge is added to the Burst Fire AP cost.
- If the first shot hits the declared limb, all subsequent hits in the burst also target that limb (standard Burst Fire first-shot rule).
- The Glancing Rule is evaluated for each shot individually based on each shot’s attack roll.
See the Burst Fire page for full burst resolution rules.
Called Shots and Overwatch
Called Shots are not available during Overwatch Attacks by default. Overwatch represents reactive fire, not deliberate precision.
The Deadeye milestone (Sniper Tier II, Small Guns +7) unlocks Called Shots during Overwatch Attacks. When using Deadeye:
- You may declare Called Shots on Overwatch Attacks.
- You gain +2 Accuracy on Called Shot Overwatch Attacks.
- There is no additional AP cost for the Called Shot — Deadeye grants this ability for free.
